How to Test a Jetted Tub Air Button and Tubing

  1. Confirm that it is an air button. A pneumatic button has a small air tube connected underneath it. Electronic keypads use electrical cables and require a different troubleshooting process.
  2. Disconnect power. Switch off the breaker or unplug the tub equipment before opening the access area.
  3. Locate the access panel. It may be in the tub apron, an adjoining closet, the wall behind the tub, or the ceiling below it.
  4. Inspect both tubing connections. Make sure the tube is attached securely at the button and at the receiving switch.
  5. Check for cracks and kinks. Brittle, split, pinched, or water-filled tubing can weaken the pressure signal.

  • Momentary switch: The circuit operates only while the button is pressed.
  • Sequencing switch: Repeated presses cycle through multiple speeds or functions.
  • Timed controller: One press starts the equipment for a preset operating period.

Do not replace a switch based only on its appearance. The replacement must match the original operating function and the electrical requirements of the connected equipment.

How to Choose the Correct Replacement Air Button
